Model Answer:
Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing to report the theft of my ID card. I am currently studying chemical engineering at University of Sydney, and I came to Australia in August 2012. My course here ends in September next year. I lost my ID card at Milsons Point Station on 21 April. I was about to catch the 9.30 morning train to Town Hall Station, and I was having a cup of coffee at the snack bar in the train station while I waited. The ID card was in the side pocket of my day-pack, which I carried on my shoulder. This must have been snatched while I was drinking the coffee, although I did not notice it had gone until I left the snack bar at 9.20.
My ID number is … and I would be grateful if you could inform me of what I must do to obtain another ID card I have some copies of my lost ID card; do I need to provide them? Please let me know of the procedures and the cost of a new ID card.
Yours faithfully
