British Education Institutions can be classified on many different basis. However, to keep it simple, we divide them on following four basis.

Education Institutions in the UK

The education system is divided into early years (ages 3–4), primary education (ages 4–11), secondary education (ages 11–18) and tertiary education (ages 18+).

 

For all of these phases, there are different types of schools

Private colleges are those colleges which are not funded by govt. authorities but they are established, financed and run by private people like private businesses.

However, there are certain authorities in the UK which regulate these colleges on behalf of the goverment.

Universities are symbol for the highest level and standard of British education. They are independent degree awarding education bodies.
 

Goverment or as more commonly known "Public Funded Colleges" in the UK are those colleges which receive financial grants from the British goverment. They are, to a large extent, independent, in making their own decision, local and central goverment authorities lay down for them the basic guiding principles.
